Training Opportunities at Trinity

We are committed to nurturing and training Christians at every level from new the believer to the aspiring pastor. Some of our specific initiatives are listed below.

The Spurgeons

The Spurgeons is a group within Trinity Church who are committed to understanding and teaching the Bible better. We meet semi-regularly to develop our skills in biblical interpretation and especially preaching. Most summers members of the Spurgeons group preach several times at our Sunday services. There are also opportunities to speak in other neighbouring churches.

For more information, or if you are interested in joining this group, please contact the Church Administrator.

Internships

Trinity offers internships, mainly for new graduates but open to all ages. An internship is a one to two year volunteer programme which offers ministry experience, basic training in Bible handling skills, and mentoring from a church leader. The intern will be enrolled on the South Central Ministry Training Course for one day a week and spend the rest of their week in local church ministry.

The programme is free of charge. Interns will need to raise their own support but grants may be available on application.

Trinity is a Union School of Theology Learning Community and interns may also have the option of enrolling on their own in qualified training, such as the GDip.

residencies

We are now able to offer training and mentoring for those who are preparing for full time gospel ministry. Candidates will either be engaged in theological training or have completed their theological education. Theological training may be provided by our partners, Union School of Theology or Crosslands Seminary, or another approved institution.

The residency aims to develop people in knowledge, character and skills through structured experience, training, and mentoring. It will run for one or more years depending on the candidate.

The programme is free of charge. Grants may be available for some depending on the circumstances of the candidate.

The south central ministry training course

We are committed to training people to reach and serve the world. We do this so that together with other churches we can bring the life changing message of Jesus to the world.

Trinity Church is a member of the South Central Gospel Partnership. As part of this we encourage people who are able to attend the SCGP Ministry Training Course. This happens on a Tuesday during term time and seeks to encourage and train people for effective gospel ministry both in the Church and the world.
