Discipleship Explored

Discipleship Explored  helps followers of Jesus turn up the gospel soundtrack to their lives.

It goes beyond simply teaching the right moves - go to church, pray, read the Bible, share the gospel - and focuses on the music which drives discipleship: the love of Christ. The greatest love anyone can ever know.

This eight-session journey through Paul’s letter to the Philippians is ideal for believers at any stage of the Christian life.

Over lunch, during Trinity term we will be going through this course.

The Great Banquet

Is Christianity a famine or a feast? For many, Christianity restricts freedom and consigns its followers to a life of boredom.

However, the Bible describes Christianity as an invitation to a feast. We will be looking at that invitation whilst also enjoying a summer banquet. Please do come along and bring friends.

London Men's Convention

Our culture is increasingly gripped by the idea of making an impact. We want our lives to count and make a difference. The tragedy is that without God we are left chasing after the wind. Why would we settle for that? It is in Jesus Christ we discover the very purpose for which we were created. Come and hear John Piper address this crucial issue.

We are hoping that a few of the men in the church will go down to Westminster Central Hall together on June 2nd.

Cost is £25. Book online @ https://christianconventions.org.uk/lmc/convention

MTC Day Conference

10:00 AM10:00

MTC Day Conference

Christ’s words to his disciples at the last supper are a precious gift. They explain what discipleship will look like when Christ is gone, and how the disciples are to relate to God, one another, and a hostile world.

The first session will show how the discourse is structured around Jesus’ repeated phrase ‘these things I have said to you so that…’ and will show how this structure should govern our preaching of the discourse. The remaining sessions will be an exposition of the discourse following this structure, asking what Jesus’ intent was in speaking these words to his disciples, and thus what lessons we are to draw for discipleship for today.

(These sessions will not be overly technical, though you can read the full academic article on which this conference is based here)

Venue: St Ebbe’s Church, Oxford. (Please note, no parking is available at the church)

Speaker: Matt Searles, Director of Training, South Central Gospel Partnership

Time: 9:45 for coffee, 10am start. End 3:45pm

Cost: £15. £5 concessions. Pay on the door. No need to book. Lunch not provided.

Dinner and Discussion

In 1762, Rousseau famously wrote, ‘Man is born free and everywhere he is in chains.’ For many, God is one source of those chains: wouldn’t He take our freedom away? Nowhere is this more thought than in the realm of sexual ethics. But has our society got it right when it comes to sex? Did we really need the sexual revolution? Do we need another sexual revolution? Join us on 13th May in New Road Baptist Church for our next dinner and discussion.
